A influência da genética sobre a displasia coxofemoral canina: uma revisão sobre os métodos de controle e de melhoramento genético / The influence of genetics on canine hip dysplasia: a review of control methods and genetic improvement

Resumo

A displasia coxofemoral (DCF) é uma das doenças com influência genética que possui maior prevalência em cães. Desde os primeiros indícios de que ela poderia ter algum fundo hereditário há décadas tem-se buscado o controle da DCF nas criações a partir da seleção por meio da imagem de raio X dos reprodutores. No entanto, investigações atuais demonstram que este tipo de ação não tem sido tão efetiva na diminuição da prevalência quanto o esperado inicialmente. Esta revisão bibliográfica traz os dados mais recentes sobre o avanço da pesquisa científica, e também discute de que maneira métodos de diagnósticos convencionais, ferramentas do melhoramento genético e os avanços na área molecular podem ser unidos e aplicados para a melhoria genética das populações caninas para essa doença.
