Resumo

Nas últimas décadas, apesar dos esforços para controlar as doenças infecciosas, patógenos, predominantemente zoonóticos, até então desconhecidos ou subestimados, emergiram com grande impacto na saúde humana. Em relação ao homem, o gato doméstico pode representar uma fonte de infecção de patógenos com potencial zoonótico. O número destas zoonoses (re) emergentes associadas com animais domésticos, que se encontram mundialmente distribuídos, tem crescido como consequência, entre outros fatores, um maior contato humano com animais e o crescimento da população felina. Constituiu-se objetivo deste estudo a avaliação da presença de Bartonella spp.Leishmania spp., Cryptococcus spp., e Toxoplasma gondii em amostras sanguíneas e citológicas de 26 gatos atendidos no Hospital Veterinário - HOVET da Universidade Anhanguera (UNIDERP).
