Estudo da correlação entre obesidade e câncer de mama no período pré e pós-menopausa / Study of the correlation between obesity and breast cancer in the pre and post-menopause period

Abstract

Este estudo de revisão narrativa de literatura teve como objetivo buscar e analisar artigos que abordam a correlação entre obesidade e câncer de mama em mulheres no período pré e pós-menopausa. Foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico do período de 2000 a 2020 nas bases de dados SCIELO, LILACS e PUBMED. As palavras-chave utilizadas foram “obesidade”, “câncer de mama” e “menopausa” e as correspondentes em inglês “obesity”, “breast cancer” e “menopause”. No primeiro momento, foram encontrados 681 artigos e 40 foram submetidos à análise. Foram incluídos estudos com mulheres na pré e na pós-menopausa. Os resultados dos estudos demonstraram que a obesidade se associa tanto a um maior risco de desenvolvimento de câncer mamário, quanto a um mau prognóstico dessa patologia em mulheres de todas as idades, e que esse fato está relacionado às alterações moleculares que ocorrem no tecido adiposo de mulheres obesas. Além disso, os resultados também demonstraram que esta associação está relacionada ao subtipo da doença e ao estágio da menopausa em que as mulheres se encontram. A maioria dos estudos sugerem que mulheres obesas no período pré-menopausa possuem um risco menor de desenvolver câncer de mama, enquanto que em mulheres obesas no período pós-menopausa esse risco é maior. No entanto, existem outras produções científicas que não evidenciam essa associação. Desse modo, é necessária a produção de mais pesquisas que objetivem elucidar o impacto da obesidade no risco de desenvolvimento de câncer de mama com seus vários subtipos histológicos e moleculares e a sua associação com os estágios do período pré e pós-menopausa em diferentes grupos populacionais.
