Abstract

Introdução: Em 2019, surgia na China uma nova patologia que afeta principalmente o sistema respiratório, a COVID-19, causada pelo SARS-CoV-2. Essa doença se disseminou rapidamente, provocando uma pandemia no ano de 2020. As informações acerca dessa infecção na pediatria ainda são limitadas, assim, este estudo objetivou analisar as peculiaridades da infecção do COVID-19 neste grupo.

Metodologia: Foi realizada uma revisão narrativa da literatura a partir das bases de dado PubMed, LILACS e MEDLINE. A partir disso, selecionou-se 124 artigos -publicados entre 2019 e 2020- para leitura integral, sendo utilizados 37 estudos para composição final.

Resultados e discussão: A infecção pelo SARS-CoV-2 é diferente entre crianças e adultos, em especial o período de incubação viral, os sintomas clínicos e a taxa de mortalidade. Na pediatria há maior número de assintomáticos e de casos mais brandos, no entanto, uma parcela pode desenvolver quadros mais severos, como a Síndrome Inflamatória Multissistêmica. Este estudo possui algumas limitações, principalmente por abordar um assunto recente e com população restrita à pediatria.

Conclusão: A fisiopatologia dessa doença ainda não é completamente definida. Nos quadros pediátricos algumas peculiaridades foram encontradas. Embora tenham quadro mais favorável, as crianças são importantes fatores epidemiológico.
