O estudo tem como objetivo estudar as operações da cadeia do algodão na Cooperativa Agroindustrial Holambra II, mormente as operações de plantio, colheita, beneficiamento e armazenamento e destinação dos subprodutos. De natureza básica, enfoque qualitativo e objetivos descritivos exploratórios, utilizou-se a abordagem do Estudo de Caso, subsidiado pela pesquisa bibliográfica. Entrevistas semiestruturadas, pesquisa documental e observação estruturada foram as ferramentas empregadas na coleta de dados. A Cooperativa implementou mudanças em sua estrutura organizacional e compliance, buscando aumentar sua eficiência na tomada de decisões, além de ampliar suas vantagens competitivas com melhor posicionamento de mercado. A safra 2020/21 apresentou forte redução na área plantada, face às incertezas provocadas pela pandemia de Covid-19, além da concorrência de outros produtos, com consequente queda na produção, e produtividade acima da média das últimas cinco safras. A estratégia de antecipação do período de safra da Cooperativa proporciona condições de disponibilizar o produto no mercado antecipadamente com possibilidades de aferir preços mais elevados. Na safra 2019/20 a produção de pluma na Cooperativa foi equivalente a mais de 70% da produção estadual. O estudo contribui com a ampliação do estudo de cooperativas agrícolas no campo da gestão, com foco na produção do algodão que, produz a mais importante das fibras têxteis.
