Levantamento etnobotânico de espécies medicinais do Nordeste Brasileiro com potencial anti-inflamatório/ Ethnobotanical survey of Brazilian Northeast medicinal species with anti-inflammatory potential

Abstract

A inflamação é caracterizada por calor, rubor, dor, edema e perda de função de tecidos e órgãos, sendo resultado normal das respostas protetoras do hospedeiro à lesão tecidual. A grande incidência de doenças em que o processo inflamatório está envolvido como uma entidade patológica e a presença de efeitos adversos em grande parte dos anti-inflamatórios comumente utilizados na prática médica atual orientam pesquisas na busca por novas moléculas que, com segurança, limitem os efeitos nocivos dos processos inflamatórios e suas patologias associadas. Tendo em vista esses fatores, o presente trabalho objetivou realizar um levantamento etnobotânico de plantas medicinais do Nordeste brasileiro com potencial anti-inflamatório. Foi realizada uma revisão de literatura através da busca de artigos científicos nas bases de dados Google Acadêmico, SciELO, PubMed e Science Direct, utilizando como descritores de pesquisa os nomes científicos das plantas medicinais, assim como “atividade anti-inflamatória”, “plantas medicinais” e “nordeste do Brasil”. O levantamento resultou na tabulação de 25 espécies medicinais, as quais apresentam potencial anti-inflamatório. Tais espécies encontram-se dispostas em 16 famílias botânicas, sendo as de maior destaque Anacardiaceae (20%) e Euphorbiaceae (12%), respectivamente. As propriedades anti-inflamatórias destas espécies estão associadas, pelo menos em parte, aos altos teores de flavonoides, taninos e saponinas. Dessa forma, é possível notar a grande da variabilidade de espécies medicinais do nordeste brasileiro que apresentam propriedade anti-inflamatória. Ademais, ressalta-se a necessidade da condução de novas pesquisas a fim de validar a atividade de plantas popularmente usadas nos processos inflamatórios, além de investigar também seus possíveis efeitos tóxicos.
