Abstract

Introdução: No Brasil houve, em 2018, 559.371 casos de câncer, e estima-se que em 2040 esse número quase duplicará., porém tem-se observado que os tratamentos têm melhorado significativamente as taxas de sobrevida específica para a doença em cinco anos. Entretanto, a grande maioria dos pacientes são afetados por efeitos tóxicos permanentes decorrentes do câncer e seu tratamento. A fisioterapia oncológica é uma especialidade que tem como objetivo preservar, manter, desenvolver e restaurar a integridade cinético-funcional de órgãos e sistemas, assim como prevenir os distúrbios gerados pelo tratamento. Objetivo: Explanar as diferentes áreas terapêuticas, métodos de avaliação, objetivos e principais condutas da fisioterapia nos pacientes oncológicos. Conclusão: A Atuação da fisioterapia no tratamento dos pacientes onco-hematologios é essencial para prover uma melhora de funcionalidade, qualidade de vida e participação nas atividades de vida diária. Podendo agir tanto no nível ambulatorial, hospitalar e na área de cuidados paliativos, podendo promover uma melhora cardiorrespiratória, motora, nas queixas álgicas etc.
