Rivina humilis es una planta herbácea, relativamente abundante en el estado de Veracruz; se emplea, en Medicina Tradicional, para contrarrestar diversos padecimientos, como la diarrea y la mordedura de serpientes, además, de cuestiones relacionadas con los nervios, “el espanto”. De una fracción clorofórmica del extracto metanólico de hoja de esta especie, se aislaron y dilucidaron las estructuras de taraxerol, espinasterol, octacosanol y 4-hidroxicinamato de metilo.
