Abstract

Objetivo: Identificar as diferenças na resposta imunológica e inflamatória em homens e mulheres diante de uma infeção. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo de revisão sistemática da literatura que utilizou como critério de inclusão artigos científicos publicados nas bases de dados eletrônicas Cientific Eletronic Libray Online (SciELO), PubMed/Medline e Bireme. Os descritores escolhidos foram “resposta inflamatória”, “dimorfismo sexual”, “infecção”. Assim, 23 artigos entre 2017 a 2020 foram escolhidos. Para alcançar o objetivo proposto, foi elaborada a seguinte questão de pesquisa: “Quais os riscos e benefícios diante das diferenças nas respostas inflamatórias entre os sexos feminino e masculino?”. Resultados: Observou-se relação do sexo com a via imunológica, então é possível que os hormônios sexuais, principalmente o estrogênio, progesterona e testosterona, possam agir na proteção ou exacerbação de uma resposta inflamatória. Além disso, percebe-se influência dos cromossomos sexuais X e Y sobre a via inflamatória, uma vez que o cromossomo X está relacionado com a proteção contra infecções e o Y como fator de exacerbação. Considerações finais: Cabe enfatizar a atividade dos hormônios sexuais e cromossomos sexuais, de modo que cada um deles possui ação específica sobre o sistema imunológico humano.
