Abstract

Introdução: A Infecção pelo HTLV-I é causada por um retrovírus que agride o sistema imunológico e pode levar a um processo inflamatório medular. Devido à queixa de tontura espera-se que os reflexos relacionados ao equilíbrio corporal em indivíduos com essa infecção possam estar alterados. Por esse motivo, o potencial evocado miogênico vestibular (VEMP) seria importante para avaliar o reflexo e confirmar o comprometimento da via. Objetivo: Analisar se existem diferenças significativas para as latências e amplitudes do VEMP cervical e do VEMP ocular entre indivíduos com e sem HTLV-I. Métodos: Trata-se de uma revisão sistemática, realizada nas seguintes bases de dados: Medline (via Pubmed), Web of Science, Scopus, Science Direct, Literatura Latino Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde e Scientific Eletronic Library Online. Os critérios de inclusão foram: artigos originais que abordassem o VEMP e a infecção pelo HTLV-I em adultos. E os critérios de exclusão: perda auditiva condutiva, sensorioneural igual ou superior a 50 dB em qualquer frequência; grupo controle com patologias vestibulares, neurais, diabete ou Parkinson. Resultados: Foram identificados 69 artigos. Após a leitura dos títulos, resumos e leitura do artigo na integra foram selecionados quatro artigos. Os estudos incluídos nesta revisão demonstraram prolongamento das latências ou ausência das ondas do VEMP cervical e ocular em indivíduos infectados com HTLV-I . Conclusão: Conclui-se que há um prolongamento das latências ou ausência das respostas do VEMP cervical e ocular em indivíduos infectados com HTLV-I de acordo com o comprometimento do trato vestibulospinal ou da desorganização dos aferentes primários envolvidos no reflexo vestíbulo-ocular.
