Abstract

A sinusite maxilar é um processo infeccioso e/ou inflamatório de origem odontológica, que ocorre com a ruptura da membrana sinusal, devido a relação apical das raízes dos dentes superiores com o assoalho do seio maxilar. Entre 10 e 12% são de origem odontogênicas, porém novos estudos apresentam que pode ter uma ocorrência de até 41%. Extração dentária, lesões dento-alveolares, cistos dentígeros, lesões periapicais, lesões cariosas, dentes inclusos e também contaminação pulpar de dentes posteriores da maxila são casos de desenvolvimento de sinusite maxilar odontogênica. As radiografias panorâmicas e periapicais, são utilizadas para o diagnóstico de sinusite maxilar, porém devido a amostragem dos tecidos ósseos e de tecidos moles obtidos através de finos cortes, a TCFC se torna um exame complementar valioso e de referência, além de mostrar falhas em tratamentos endodônticos realizados e o envolvimento dos dentes com o seio maxilar. O objetivo desse estudo é realizar uma revisão de literatura sobre a proximidade das raízes dentárias com a anatomia do seio maxilar, etiologia, e diagnóstico com o uso da TCFC das sinusites de origem odontogênicas. A metodologia de busca de artigos científicos foi realizada no banco de dados da PubMed. Foram utilizados vinte e quatro estudos para embasamento teórico. A conclusão foi que cada vez mais visualizamos a necessidade de complementação com o exame de TCFC junto com um bom exame clínico e análise de sinais e sintomas em casos relacionados com a sinusite maxilar de origem odontogênicas. Este é um processo inflamatório cada vez mais presente na prática de tratamentos odontológicos e suas iatrogenias.
