Abstract

O selênio é um micronutriente essencial que tem diversas funções biológicas no organismo. Em se tratando do papel do mineral na fertilidade feminina, não há evidências suficientes sobre esta relação. Assim, realizou-se uma pesquisa experimental com ratos visando elucidar a influência do uso de selênio sobre a fertilidade feminina. Neste estudo, 36 ratas foram divididas em 3 grupos, e submetidas às técnicas de lavado vaginal e gavagem com selênio quelado, além de histerectomia total e coleta de amostras sanguíneas para realização de hemograma completo e perfil bioquímico. Obteve-se diminuição significativa dos valores de hematócrito (p=0,039) e concentração de hemoglobina corpuscular média (p=0,002), e aumento do número de plaquetas (p=0,047) e bilirrubina total (p=0,044).  Além disso, houve diminuição significativa dos níveis de triglicerídeos (p=0,027), o que revelou possível efeito terapêutico da suplementação do mineral. A análise dos resultados apontou que o selênio exerceu influência em alguns parâmetros bioquímicos das ratas.
