Abstract

Introdução A Rhodiola rosea (RR) é uma planta medicinal adaptógena, reconhecida pela European Medicines Agency (EMA) para o alívio temporário de sintomas do estresse, como fadiga e sensação de fraqueza. Estudos sugerem que substâncias adaptógenas podem melhorar a performance e o desempenho físico em exercícios extenuantes.Objetivo O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma revisão sistemática dos efeitos da Rhodiola rosea no exercício físico em humanos.Método Bases de dados eletrônicas (MEDLINE/PubMed, Scielo e Lilacs) foram consultadas retrospectivamente até 01 de setembro de 2021, utilizando a seguinte palavra-chave: “rhodiola rosea” combinada com “exercise AND (performance OR resistence OR endurance)”. Foram selecionados para inclusão na revisão os estudos clínicos randomizados e controlados (RCT) que avaliaram os efeitos da Rhodiola rosea em exercício físico em humanos.Resultado Os efeitos da Rhodiola rosea na performance do exercício físico foram avaliados em 10 estudos randomizados e controlados, envolvendo 217 participantes. Os resultados, em sua maioria, demonstraram benefícios potenciais da suplementação de RR, com melhor desempenho nos exercícios, menor tempo até a exaustão, menor percepção de esforço e aumento da velocidade concêntrica.Conclusão Pode-se concluir que a Rhodiola rosea exerce um efeito promissor na melhora da performance e desempenho físico. Entretanto, mais estudos randomizados e controlados, com maior tamanho amostral e homogêneos são necessários.
