Abstract

This article analyses the importance of observing ‘the magnetic field and the proton behaviour’, the magnetic resonance technique, NMR spectroscopy, and the application of MRI techniques in neuroscience today. The major scientists who have contributed to observe the NMR phenomenon include: Rabi, Purcell and Bloch, while Proctor, Gustowky and McCall applied the principles of magnetic resonance in the field of spectroscopy. In 1966 Richard R. Ernst made an important contribution to research by improving the sensitivity of the instrumentation that allowed Peter Mansfield obtained the first image of human anatomy in vivo in 1977. The discovery ‘mirror neurons’ in neuroscience were discovered in 1992 by Prof. Giacomo Rizzolatti and his research group, has been demonstrated thanks to the use of multiple magnetic resonance techniques.
