Abstract

O presente artigo fornece dados sobre a ocorrência de gêneros e espécies de plantas com flores da família Rubiaceae Juss., no estado de São Paulo, Brasil. Não há uma correlação das espécies da família com a distribuição geográfica específica, clima e tipo de vegetação. Não foram adotadas as categorias taxonômicas de subespécie e variação e não foi coletado nenhum material botânico. Noções sobre abundância só podem ser reveladas com estudos criteriosos. A revisão de literatura fornece evidência para uma grande diversidade de gêneros. São reconhecidos 50 gêneros: Alibertia A. Rich. ex DC., Alseis Schott, Amaioua Aubl., Bathysa C. Presl, Borreria G. Mey., Carapichea Aubl., Cephalanthus L., Chiococca P. Browne, Chomelia Jacq., Coccocypselum P. Browne, Cordiera A. Rich. ex DC., Coussarea Aubl., Coutarea Aubl., Declieuxia Kunth, Deppea Schltdl. E Cham., Diodia L., Emmeorhiza Pohl ex Endl., Eumachia DC., Faramea Aubl., Galianthe Griseb. ex Lorentz., Galium L., Genipa L., Geophila D. Don, Guettarda L., Hamelia Jacq., Hexasepalum Bartl. ex DC., Hillia Jacq., Hoffmannia Sw., Ixora L., Ladenbergia Klotzsch, Limnosipanea Hook.f., Machaonia Humb. E Bonpl., Malanea Aubl., Manettia Mutis ex L., Mitracarpus Zucc. ex Schult. E Schult.f., Oldenlandia L., Palicourea Aubl., Posoqueria Aubl., Psychotria L., Randia L., Richardia L., Rudgea Salisb., Rustia Klotzsch., Sabicea Aubl., Schizocalyx Wedd., Schwendenera K. Schum., Simira Aubl., Sipanea Aubl., Spermacoce L., e Tocoyena Aubl. Gêneros com sinonimizações de espécies: Alibertia/Cordiera, Bathysa/Schizocalyx, Borreria/Spermacoce, Diodia/Hexasepalum e Eumachia/Psychotria. Estes foram separados em relação ao gênero e reunidos em relação ao número de espécies. Calycophyllum DC., Ferdinandusa Pohl, Morinda L., e Sphinctanthus Benth., são gêneros de ocorrência não esclarecida.  Coffea L., Mussaenda Burm. ex L., e Pentodon Hochst., são gêneros introduzidos. Pentas Benth., e Vangueria Juss, são gêneros introduzidos e de ocorrência não esclarecida. De modo geral a maior parte dos gêneros apresenta reduzida diversidade de espécies. Psychotria L., é o gênero que apresenta maior diversidade de espécies para o estado de São Paulo. São apresentadas cerca de 240 espécies, no entanto o número de espécies tende a aumentar.
