Acidentes e complicações associadas as exodontias dos terceiros molares superiores: uma revisão sistemática / Accidents and complications associated with the upper third molar extractions: a systematic review

Introdução: A extração do terceiro molar continua sendo um das procedimentos mais realizados por cirurgiões maxilofaciais, e a maioria dos terceiros molares são removidos sem dificuldades intra ou pós-operatórias, entretanto esse procedimento pode gerar vários acidentes e complicações. Objetivo: Revisar os fatores associados aos acidentes e complicações envolvidos com a remoção dos terceiros molares superiores, levando em conta fatores de risco . Metodologia: Os seguintes bancos de dados foram pesquisados: PubMed e LILACS seguindo a recomendação PRISMA, utilizando palavras-chave específicas: Molar Third; Tooth Extration ; Complications; e variações de outras palavras-chave para complemento da pesquisa. Resultados e discussão :Fatores de risco como gênero, tempo de cirurgia, formato radicular, planejamento, infecção e posicionamento dentário foram associados aos possíveis acidentes e complicações como fratura da tuberosidade, deslocamento, dentário para os espaços faciais, lesões nervosas e comunicação bucosinusal, assim como os possíveis tratamentos utilizados. Conclusão: O estudo concluiu que um planejamento criterioso deve ser realizado para minimizar o risco de lesões, e caso alguma intercorrência ocorra um cirurgião habilitado e experiente deve ser responsável pela conduta do caso.
