Abstract

Os antibióticos são fármacos utilizados para tratar infecções causadas por bactérias e podem atuar inibindo o crescimento ou causando a morte destes microrganismos. Entretanto, são medicamentos que requerem retenção de receita e, portanto, somente devem ser vendidos mediante a prescrição médica. Todavia, a automedicação e o consumo de antibióticos sem prescrição médica tem sido uma prática comum, considerada normal pela sociedade. Isto posto, temos que um dos principais fatores que contribuem para a emergência de microrganismos multirresistentes é a utilização inadequada de antimicrobianos. Desta forma, o uso indiscriminado faz com que as bactérias sofram alterações e os antibióticos percam o poder de ação sobre elas, além disto, essa prática também pode causar o surgimento de superbactérias, que são resistentes a vários antibióticos e possuem poucas opções de medicamentos para o tratamento. Diante disso, objetivou-se realizar uma revisão narrativa do conhecimento, atitudes e percepções dos estudantes ensino médio e universitários sobre o uso de antibióticos.
