Análise de líquido pleural de cadelas com Tumor de Mama Maligno

O tumor de mama em cadelas é comum no Brasil. O exame citológico é de fácil aplicação e minimamente invasivo. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a citologia de líquido pleural de cadelas com neoplasia mamária maligna, para detectar células metastáticas. Foram utilizadas 32 cadelas diagnosticadas com tumores mamários malignos por meio de histopatologia das massas, nas quais foram realizadas radiografias torácicas e toracocentese para obtenção de líquido pleural. Com os líquidos obtidos foram realizados esfregaços analisados microscopicamente. Não foram detectadas células metastáticas no líquido pleural. A não detecção de células tumorais nas análises pode estar relacionada à ausência de metástases pulmonares. Este achado, torna o exame adequado para a confirmação de presença ou ausência de metástase pulmonar. A ausência de células neoplásicas também pode ser devido ao exame ser inadequado para diagnóstico precoce de metástase em tumor de mama de cadelas. Novos estudos são necessários para verificar o papel da citologia de líquido pleural no diagnóstico de metástase de tumores de mama em cadelas.
