Abstract

A partir da década de 60, com a crise de do crescimento populacional a visão sobre planejamento familiar modificou-se, e por esse motivo nova tecnologias foram criadas para o combate do conflito. Portanto, métodos contraceptivos revolucionaram o cotidiano da população, principalmente ao público feminino, trazendo novas estratégias para o controle de natalidade. Variados anticoncepcionais foram desenvolvidos neste período como as pílulas anticoncepcionais orais, implante, anéis vaginais e adesivo. Além destes, os dispositivos intrauterinos ganharam espaço no mercado, se tornando uma ótima opção para as mulheres, devido seu baixo índice de natalidade. Os DIUs hormonais, como o Mirena® e o Kyleena®, liberam uma dose de levonorgestrel diariamente e são métodos de longa duração, podendo permanecer no corpo da mulher por até cinco anos. O objetivo dessa pesquisa é analisar as informações existentes sobre o DIU Mirena, como vantagens, desvantagens, mecanismo de ação, indicações e contraindicações, além de compará-lo com o novo DIU Kyleena®. O estudo foi baseado em artigos sobre anticoncepção feminina por meio de dispositivos intrauterinos liberadores de levonogestrel, publicados entre 2012-2022, nas bases de dado PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, Lilacs e Cochrane Library. Após a leitura e interpretação dos artigos selecionados, conclui-se que a maioria das usuárias do DIU Mirena® estão satisfeitas com seus efeitos, como a amenorréia, e por ser um dispositivo com um custo acessível a longo prazo e eficaz. Quando é feita uma comparação entre o DIU Mirena® e o Kyleena®, notam-se mais semelhanças do que diferenças.
