Abstract

A Hipersensibilidade Dentinária (HD) é definida como uma condição dolorosa relativamente comum entre pacientes, caracterizada por uma dor aguda transitória de curta duração. Algumas teorias têm sido propostas para explicar o mecanismo dessa condição, entre elas, a mais aceita tem sido a teoria hidrodinâmica, que consiste na movimentação dos fluidos dentinários, estimulando os receptores nas áreas pulpares, resultando na geração de impulsos de dor. Além do uso de dessensibilizantes químicos, uma das abordagens sugeridas para o tratamento da HD é a irradiação a laser Nd: YAG que age por meio da oclusão induzida ou diminuição dos túbulos dentinários. Nesse contexto objetivou-se com esse trabalho, revisar a literatura acerca do uso do laser Nd: YAG como escolha de tratamento da Hipersensibilidade dentinária. Para tanto foi realizada uma busca na base de dados Pubmed e Science Direct, utilizando os descritores Laser Nd Yag, Dentin e Hypersensitivity cadastrados no Mesh. O período foi delimitado para pesquisas publicadas nos últimos 10 nos. Após a leitura de títulos e resumos selecionou-se 15 artigos, considerando os critérios de inclusão que são: ensaios clínicos randomizados, estudos laboratoriais que relatem sobre o uso do Laser Nd Yag. Em suma, os artigos demostraram que o laser Nd: YAG apresentou resultados satisfatórios na redução da HD. No entanto, quando este foi associado a outros dessesibilizantes, se mostrou ainda mais eficaz.
